I'm Lil, and Kit Atelier™ started with a personal problem. My spare time was shot. Between work and everyone who needed something from me, I couldn't remember the last time I'd made something instead of just consumed something. I didn't want a hobby that demanded a course or six months of "getting good" before I had anything to show for it. I wanted to sit down, use my hands, and walk away with something real.

It just so happened a bag was the thing that finally got me moving. I remember standing in a shop, turning over a $400 leather tote, trying to talk myself into it. It wasn't even the price that got to me. It was that I couldn't tell if it would last five years or five months. Leather goods that used to be an investment now come off the same production lines as everything else: quality quietly dialled down, price quietly dialled up.

The "affordable" alternative wasn't better either, just plastic in a nicer shape, priced like it isn't. Somewhere along the way, bags became disposable: buy it, wear it a season, replace it.

So I started reaching out to leather manufacturers, looking for someone who could help me build genuine leather kits. Designer-style kits that anyone could use to make a bag that lasts, for a fraction of the cost. Every kit uses the real leather and hardware I wished I could just buy off the shelf, pre-cut and pre-punched so you're not starting from a blank hide and a prayer. Sit down for an evening or a weekend, and you walk away with a bag you made, not one you bought.

Once you've made one, you want to make another. Each design is built to sit alongside the last. A day bag, then a tote, then a wallet, until what started as one project becomes a collection of timeless, ready-to-wear pieces, built one kit at a time.
